The luxury massage
Characteristics of a luxury massage
A massage becomes luxury when there's many details with one intention: to improve mental wellbeing. But these details would mean nothing without a quality massage and feed-back between therapist and patient. When all these features come together; the massage becomes luxury.
Right now, one of my work projects is to bring chiropractic massages to luxury hotels in Barcelona. I'm working on 4*, 5* and great luxury hotels. And in the same way, for those 5* hotel spa centers, as are the H.Omm and H. Àbac.
I've been doing this for a few months, but today I want to share with you the making of the luxury massage. How are all these people on whom I practice chiropractics and what type of massage is performed. It is a truly enriching experience.
For starters, the massage in these places is always done in the same room of the customer to suit their taste: light, music or in the Spa centers, which are characterized by a rather small but totally welcoming place.
The person requesting the massage is usually a person accustomed to recieve them, so they value them greatly and even form part of their weekly welfare. Dedicating one session a week to relax throughout the whole year. For them the massage is an art as well as a science, words that are appreciated when a therapist has found themselves in certain situations, that are now irrelevant.
They usually ask for a strong massage to relieve contractures. They don't usually ask for frills. They know the techniques and know what they need.
The massage in this case becomes luxury when there are many details with one intention: to improve mental wellbeing. Details like putting drops of essential oils at the head of the table; a foot bath with rose petals, essential oils and sea salt; quality oils and creams; water stretchers. But these details would mean nothing without a quality massage and feedback between therapist and patient.
When all these features come together is when the massage becomes luxury. A treat to receive a session of well being for all the senses.
As I said it is a situation that has only made me personally enrich myself as a therapist and as a person and I wish it continues. Massaging people that truly value it is really motivating and where I have been able to confirm that the details are really important, as I said many times before.
